Martinsburg, WV – Charleston attorney and former member of the House of Delegates, Dan Greear, spent the past week meeting with key leaders and campaigning across the Eastern Panhandle as he seeks the office of Attorney General.

Greear kicked off his trip on Thursday morning when he appeared on WRNR’s Thursday morning radio show with host Mike Caryl. Greear spent the afternoon meeting with area business leaders and touring the area with legislators who are supporting his candidacy. Greear attended the Eastern Panhandle Businessmen Association’s Legislative Luncheon on Friday where areas leaders regularly come together to discuss concerns and learn more about the recent Legislative session.

“Eastern Panhandle residents feel left out of the process in Charleston. My purpose in coming here this week and spending time in the panhandle is to meet the voters and hear their concerns,” Greear said. “I can’t thank our local supporters enough. When running for statewide office, it is imperative to have supporters who can assist you in their towns by arranging meetings with key people and reaching out to voters on your behalf.”

Greear added. “After talking with many people here, I recognize dissatisfaction with current Attorney General Darrell McGraw and the people of the Eastern Panhandle are begging for change,” concluded Greear.

Greear was accompanied by his grassroots team during the trip to the Eastern Panhandle where they spent several days going door-to-door taking Greear’s message directly to voters. Greear went door-to-door himself during the trip and helped the team reach over five hundred doors.

Greear’s week began in Upshur County where the Republican Executive Committee’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner. The Upshur County Republican Executive Committee is very well organized and the campaign is honored to have support among the committee and chairwoman Patricia Adams.

Saturday night Greear attended the Jefferson County Lincoln Day Dinner where he spoke and met several key people from the area.

Sunday morning Greear attended a Martinsburg church with a personal friend before traveling to Morgantown for the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner at the Waterfront Hotel in Morgantown.

Greear stated, “This has been a very busy week for us, but we are enjoying it and pleased we have spent so much time in the Eastern Panhandle. I plan to spend the next several months just this way, campaigning to win. Our ultimate goal is to defeat McGraw, and I believe we are on the right path. We are raising money, meeting leaders across the state and taking my message directly to the voters.”

Greear will soon return to the Eastern Panhandle where he will visit Mineral County on April 18th, Jefferson County on April 24th, Morgan County on April 26th and Berkley County on April 28th and May 3rd.

Greear is a lifelong resident of Kanawha County, graduating from South Charleston High School in 1986 as a National Merit Scholar. He graduated third in his class from the WVU school of Law in the spring of 1992 where he also served as associate manuscript editor for the West Virginia Law Review. He served in the West Virginia House of Delegates representing Kanawha County’s 30th District in 1995 and 1996. Dan currently resides in South Charleston with his wife Amy, a social worker for Kanawha Hospice Care, and their two children, Joshua, 8 and Ben, 6.

Charleston, WV – Charleston attorney and former member of the House of Delegates, Dan Greear, proudly announces West Virginians for Life Political Action Committee has endorsed his candidacy for Attorney General.

Greear was honored and humbled by their endorsement.

“This is a personal conviction rather than a political statement for me,” said Greear. “I believe we have a moral obligation to protect human life. This controversial issue is very simple for me and those who I surround myself with, abortion is wrong,” Greear said.

“When I ran for the House of Delegates I was endorsed by West Virginians for Life and I have always encompassed the same position on abortion issues. I am proud to again receive their endorsement as I seek the Office of Attorney General,” Greear added. “This endorsement sends a strong signal to Republican primary voters that I am the better candidate to represent our party against Darrell McGraw.”

Greear believes West Virginia voters take a strong stance against abortion. Greear stated, “Your position on this vital issue tells a great deal about the type of person you are and I believe most West Virginians would agree.”

Greear noted the state’s public policy on abortion issues is crafted by the Legislature and not the Attorney General. “I strongly believe that it is the duty of the Attorney General to uphold and enforce the laws passed by the Legislature,” Greear noted. Greear added his own pro-life views mirrored the views of the vast majority of both houses of the West Virginia Legislature.
